Paul David Thornton, born March 29, 1941 in Barboursville, WV, to the late Forest James “Davey” Thornton and Mary Huff Thornton, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at his home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Estalean Thornton, his sister, Mary Anne Thornton, and stepdaughter, Jonice Ryder. Paul was a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church and the Minerva Lodge No. 13 A.F. & A.M. He is survived by his two daughters, Paula (Paul) Murphy, Peggy (Mark) Baker; son-in-law, Todd Ryder; six grandchildren, Nicki (Derek) Keith, Joseph (Rachel) Murphy, Jerrod Dillon and fiancée Ericka Buford, Evan (Kassie) Baker, Ben Ryder and Brad Ryder; 12 great-grandchildren, Lila Keith, Brooklyn, Jake, Brody and Karma Dillon, Kris Buford, Theo and Layne Baker, Kaley and Bailey Ryder and Brendon and Acacia Ryder; and two special friends, Ginny Ferguson and Kathy Haraga. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
