 Joseph S. Nance, 83, of Huntington, passed away July 31, 2025 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. He was born September 2, 1941 in Huntington, a son of the late Soloman Nance and Mildred Houchin Nance. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired Huntington firefighter. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon Carter Nance; two daughters, Angela Nance of Huntington and Leigh Ann Gillette of Barboursville; one brother, James Nance of Proctorville, OH; four grandchildren, Bradley Massie (Lauren), Kylie Myers (Stetson), Zachary Spears (Andres) and Paul Thomas “Trey” Gillette III; and two great-grandchildren, Harlan Myers and Boyd Myers. Joe was a neighbor and friend. Easy going and I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. He came to a few of our backyard cookouts and I enjoyed our front porch conversations. He will be missed around here.
