Edward (Eddie) Thomasson, 77, of Culloden, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a short but aggressive battle with cancer on Friday, November 21. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy (Delaney) Thomasson, and his sister, Virginia Sexton (Bill). He is survived by his wife Rita (Price), daughters Lisa Cline (Adam) of Milton, WV, and Kimberly Thomasson (Zacka) of Arlington, VA, and three grandsons — Jalen, Julian and Jet Ratliff, who were his greatest joy.
Eddie was a 1966 graduate of Milton High School and was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Once out of the service, he had a long career as a freight truck driver and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 175. He retired from Yellow Freight after 36 years and achieved over 4 million safe driving miles. Not one to sit around, he almost immediately went to work for Cabell County Schools as a bus driver where he was still employed at the time of his death. He was very active with multiple outreaches with the school system and was known by many on his bus route for giving out dog treats to the children’s pets.
Eddie was avid about his health. You could usually find him walking laps at the Huntington Mall between his morning and afternoon bus runs. He was even featured on WSAZ for National Walking Day in 2023. He also completed multiple 5ks and Marshall Half Marathons with his daughter and grandsons.
Services will be held at Wallace Funeral Home in Milton, WV, on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Visitation begins at 12 p.m., funeral service at 1 p.m., with burial at Forest Memorial Park to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local food bank or the March of Dimes, where Eddie volunteered for many years.
