Delbert Ray HarlessDelbert Ray Harless, 83, of Barboursville, WV, passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2026 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV. Born Oct. 19, 1942, he was the son of the late George Washington Harless and Mary Humphrey Dempsey Harless. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 58 years, Jeraldine “Jerry” Perry Harless, son, Steven Ray Harless (Sharon Cox Harless, deceased), and daughter Felicia Gail Harless (all from Barboursville, WV). Others who will miss him include Jerry’s siblings (Ernest & Anita Perry, Gail & Dale May, Teresa & Sam Easley, Linda & David Harris) as well as multiple nieces and nephews in many different states. Delbert and Jerry were parents of a twin daughter, Alicia Gay Harless, who passed away due to a defective heart valve at the age of 3 days old in 1978. Delbert was the 7th born of 10 children, all of whom have passed away except for the youngest, Charles Lee Harless of Huntington, WV.

Delbert was a man of faith and a member of East Campbell Park Baptist Church in Huntington, WV. Although "absent from the body, he is now with the Lord". He was a loving husband, father, brother, & friend who will be greatly missed by all. Prior to retirement in 2005, Delbert was a Janitor at Marshall University for 31 years. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family, working in his garden, and going fishing.

The siblings who have gone on before him are: Ralph E. Harless (Wanda “Boots” McLaughlin Harless) of Youngstown, OH; Ada V. “Virginia” Harless Lee (Ray Lee) also of Youngstown, OH; Beulah K. “Kattie” Harless Sparks (John Sparks) of Barboursville, WV; George W. Harless (Faye “Peggy” Sellers Harless) of Sutherlin, OR; Vallie M. Harless Poston (Eddie Poston) of Ironton, OH; Fred E. Harless (Janie Jeffers Harless) of Huntington, WV; John W. “Bill” Harless (Carolyn Felton Harless) of Spanishburg, WV; and Betty J. Harless Bradley (Garland Bradley) of Crete, IL.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel in Barboursville, WV. Pastor Eddie Parsons will be officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery, Huntington. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
