Velma Ann Mays, 86, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2026. She was born May 19, 1939 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late John William Christman and Mary Edith Mynes McCoy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Ray Mays, and one son, James Mays. She is survived by one daughter, Joni Mays of Olive Hill, KY; one son, Jamie Mays and his wife Cristina of the Philippines; one sister, Charlene Ferguson of Huntington; one brother, Melvin Christman of Huntington; several grandchildren including Andrew Mays, William Mays and Cody Mays; a great granddaughter, Ava Mays; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2026 followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, with Pastor Ray Vance officiating.
