
It is with profound sadness, yet gratitude for a life beautifully lived, that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Ruth Campbell Elliott, 93, on March 17, 2026. She was born on December 22, 1932 in Milton, WV, the daughter of the late Otto Ray Hager and Marie Black Hager. She graduated from Milton High School and worked full-time while pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in 1968 and her Master's Degree in 1970 while attending night school at Marshall University. She taught school at Milton Junior High School for three years and then changed her career path to working for C&P Telephone in Huntington and Charleston. In 1973 she was promoted and moved to Washington, DC and worked at Group Headquarters. She remained living and working in the Northern Virginia area for the next 45 years. Her last job was at the Kena Shriners office in Fairfax, Virginia. Ruth was a former member of Bethel UCC in Arlington, VA. She returned back to her home state in 2020. "SHE WAS SUCH A PROFOUND PRESENCE IN OUR LIVES", NOW AND FOREVER!!!!!
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Campbell, Barboursville, WV and her second husband of 39 years, Robert Elliott, Woodbridge, VA, brothers, Philip and Donald Hager and her sister, Janice Hager. She is survived by one son, Larry Campbell, Hyattsville, MD, one daughter, Joy Campbell Lytton and her favorite son-in-law, Dale Lytton. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Forest Memorial Park Mausoleum, Milton, WV. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Ruth's memory to Hospice Care, Main Office, 1606 Kanawha Blvd West, Charleston.
