
Joseph Jacob Ware, 86, born June 4, 1940, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Wyngate Assisted Living.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor David Vickers. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
He was a son of the late Richard and Vennelda Fortney Ware.
He was a 1958 graduate of Barboursville High School. He started his bank career at 20th Street Bank, Huntington, WV, and retired from Bank One in 1997. He was a farmer and continued his passion and love for farming for many years. He was a member of Portersville Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Superintendent, Treasurer and Sunday School teacher. He loved restoring and showing antique cars. He was grateful for all the friends he made during his life.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Judith Eden Ware; one son, James Ware of Chesapeake, Ohio; three daughters, Susan Townsend (Patrick) of Mingo Junction, Ohio; Becky Ferguson (Ray) of Branchland, WV and Katherine Ware of West Hamlin, WV; one brother, Rod Ware (Sherri) of Mingo Junction, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jared Ferguson (Shannon), Jacob Townsend, Matthew Townsend (Quinn) and Christopher Kern; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wyngate Assisted Living and Hospice of Huntington for their care.
