Ronald Wayne Adkins, 85, of Barboursville, WV, passed away September 23, 2026. He was born April 18, 1941, in Huntington, WV, son of the late Ernest Adkins and Erma Adkins. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from the Huntington Police Department, retired Chief State Investigator for WV Secretary of State, and retired President of Teamsters Local #505. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Orlinda Houchin Adkins; one son, Ronnie Adkins (Lisa) of Huntington; two grandsons, Chaise Adkins and Trace Adkins (Tiffani); three great-grandchildren, Chaise “CJ” Adkins Jr., Carter Adkins and Cooper Adkins; niece, Penny Smith (George); nephew, Kim Adkins (Jeanette); two special nephews, Ryan Adkins (Shelly) and Chad Adkins (Dalene) and niece Stacy Sheffield. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and friend to many. His love for his family was the center of his life. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Tim Yates. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
