1941 - 2024

Stephen Patrick CornwellStephen Patrick Cornwell, 83 of Barboursville, WV passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, and entered the gates of heaven following a brief illness. Pat was born May 24, 1941, in Huntington, WV to the late WW (Bun) and Alma Blanche Stewart Cornwell. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen Kent Cornwell and a brother Thomas Michael Cornwell. He is survived by his wife Brenda Johnson Cornwell with whom he celebrated sixty-two years of marriage last November, his daughter, Lisa (Randy) Rhoades of Huntington, WV, his daughter-in-law, Amy Huff of Chesapeake Ohio, four grandchildren, Jared Cornwell, Madison Rhoades, Kelsey Huff, Carson Rhoades, and his brothers David Cornwell of Albion, Indiana and Carroll Cornwell (Virginia) of Salisbury, North Carolina.

Pat retired from Dolin Supply, MSC where he managed their rental department. Although this was the position that he retired from, most of his career was spent in the local grocery business. Many knew him from B&B Food Market where he was the front-end manager for twenty-five years. His work ethic was only surpassed by his love for his family, a devoted husband, loving father and the most fun Papa, he will be missed beyond measure. Pat loved the Lord, his faith evident in his service and love for others, always putting others before himself. In his retirement he enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and traveling with friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, July 3 at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, WV at 1:00 pm. with visitation beginning at noon with Pastor Kevin Lantz and Reverend Greg Markins officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Huntington City Mission at https://huntingtoncitymission.kindful.com/ or ECCHO at 1038 Smith Street, Milton, WV 25541. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace

I am saddened to hear about Pat and my prayers go out to this wonderful and loving family. I grew up across the street from the Cornwell family and the little neighborhood we all shared. We were all more than neighbors, we were family. God Bless this family always and the Maynard Family sends love.
