1931 - 2024

Minnie Caroline Adkins RameyMinnie Caroline Adkins Ramey, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2024, at her home in Branchland, WV. She was born on October 1, 1931, in Cabell County, WV, the daughter of the late Goba and Cassie Lucas Adkins. She graduated as valedictorian of Chapmanville High School's class of 1950. She met and married Cleston Ramey while she was still in high school, and they were together for 61 years.

Minnie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Cleston; one brother, George Walden Adkins; and three grandsons, Brian Eric Crank, Wedzel Wade Whitt, and Matthew Cleston Jerome Workman.

Minnie is survived by her seven children: Dana Marshall Ramey (Peggy), Marsha Diane Napier (Roger), Carla Jean Jackson, Rhonda Janean Russell, Judith Carol Workman (Brady), Kevin Lee Ramey (Wanda), and Vanessa Jo Ramey, along with thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Minnie will be missed by all who knew her. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and friend. She loved spending time in the kitchen. Her biscuits and gravy were world renowned with chicken and dumplings coming in at a close second. Minnie loved to try new recipes and could always find something to fix for dinner when there seemed to be nothing in the cupboard. She loved her family and family get-togethers and holidays. It would be nothing to have 40 to 50 family members and friends on any given Christmas Eve. Loved ones were always welcomed in her home.

Minnie loved the Lord Jesus Christ most of all. She read the Bible and knew who holds tomorrow. She never failed to give glory to God for things He provided and for prayers answered. Minnie loved to listen to songs of praise and worship. She enjoyed listening to her girls sing about Jesus. Minnie had a number of talents, one of which was quilting. She loved to piece a quilt together and watch it take shape. She was an avid reader and could not pass up a yard sale. She loved being a grandma and spent hours making dolls, repairing broken toys, and patching rips in stuffed animals.

The family extends an invitation to all who loved her. Services will be held at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, 1159 Central Avenue, Barboursville, WV, on Sunday, July 7, 2024. The public is welcome from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Adkins Family Cemetery in Branchland. Pastor Jason McComas will be officiating. Pallbearers: Kyle Chadwick, Steven Jackson, Brennen Crank, Eric Ramey, Shannon Crank, and Robert Ramey.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Huntington, Inc., PO Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709, Attn: Development Department. The family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to Shannon Crank, April Michelle Scaggs, Carla, Rhonda, and Vanessa, who lovingly cared and provided for Minnie. They want to thank two special friends of the family, Smokey and Delores Carpenter who were tirelessly present and offered guidance and help whenever and wherever it was needed. They were God sent. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Huntington for their continuous, non-stop, care of our loving mother.
