Mary Jane BartholomewMary Jane Bartholomew, 87, peacefully transitioned to Heaven surrounded by family in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 9, 2024. Mary Jane, the daughter of Ulysses Jay Reynolds and Mary Catherine Irma Patton Reynolds, was born in Huntington, West Virginia, and was married to the Rev. Arlie Rexford “Rex” Bartholomew, her high school sweetheart, for over 60 years. Rex and Jane, as she was known by family and friends, resided primarily in Milton, West Virginia. She is survived by her daughters Sheri VanMeter (Erik VanMeter) and Rebecca Wofford (Hunt Wofford); her sister Frances Clagg; grandchildren Sara Hoover (Justin Hoover), Scott Bartholomew, Steve Bartholomew, Emily Pope (Tanner Pope), Corey Adkins (Ryanna Adkins), Sam Wofford, Catie Wofford and Justin VanMeter; great grandchildren Michael Bartholomew (Aimee Bartholomew), Austin Hoover (Stephanie Hoover), Candice Burd (Trent Burd), Alyssa Hoover, Jasmine Bartholomew, Jacob Bartholomew and Hudson Arlie Pope; and great-great grandchildren Isabella and Adria Hoover. She was predeceased by her husband Rex, her parents and her son Steven Rexford Bartholomew. Mary Jane was a devoted wife, mother, minister’s wife and grandmother. Although her career path included being a bookkeeper for a church bookstore and a Cabell County Schools’ cafeteria employee and manager, being “MaMaw Jane” was her life’s calling. Visitation for the family will begin at noon and for the public at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024 and the service led by her Pastor Mark Finley will begin at 2:00 p.m.
