Daniel Laing Johnson, 56, of Milton, WV, passed away on February 1, 2025, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born on September 30, 1968, in Heidelberg, Germany, to William Franklin Johnson and Carol Reed Johnson. A devoted patriot, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, where he was deployed during the Gulf War. His commitment to service continued with the Army National Guard, where he was deployed twice during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Beyond his military service, Dan was known for his kindness, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for his family. His loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Kim; their children, Megan (Zachary) Halstead and Alexander Johnson; and his beloved grandchildren, Liam and Charlie Halstead. He is also survived by his sisters, Debra Johnson and Jennifer Marshall, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, WV, on Thursday, February 6, 2025. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV, at 2 p.m.
