1996 - 2026

Corey Michael DorseyCorey Michael Dorsey of Barboursville, WV, passed away on February 7, 2026, after a short battle with leukemia.

Born on July 15, 1996, Corey was the big brother to Caleb and Chase, a role he embodied both literally and in spirit. Corey was the kind of person everyone turned to. He could often be found singing everywhere he went. His instinct to help others led him to serve as Finance Director of a local non-profit, combining his technical skills with a genuine commitment to strengthening his community. In his 29 years he made an unmistakable mark, filling the world with laughter and songs.

Corey was preceded in death by his grandparents Michael “Dean” Dorsey, Sr., Ronald and Carolyn “Katie” Burnsworth, and JoAnn O’Dell. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Charlotte Dorsey, his grandmother Betty Dorsey, his brothers Caleb and Chase Dorsey, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his best friend from birth until the end Sarena Johnson.

Celebration of Life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to HART, Jr. (Huntington Area Regional Theater) to support his love of music and theater. A GoFund me has been established as “Corey Dorsey’s Memorial Fundraiser for HART Jr.”

I had the honor of hiring Corey at River Valley Child Development Services . From the very start, I knew Corey was very special!! Watching how he eagerly embraced what he needed to do was very impressive. He was a very special person who everyone respected and loved to work with . My heart goes out to all who loved him.
