
Linda “Joyce” Mannon, 85, of Chesapeake, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Born September 16, 1940, in Huntington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Emerson Cook and Evelyn Annis Ronk Cook. She was also preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Roy Mannon.
Joyce was a 1959 graduate of Huntington East High School and later attended Wiseman Business School. On June 15, 1963, she married the love of her life, Bobby Mannon, with whom she shared many wonderful years together. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was deeply involved in her family and community. She was especially active in her son’s school activities and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
In 1976, Joyce began her career with Anderson-Newcomb Department Store/Stone & Thomas, where she faithfully worked until her retirement in 2001. She was also active in the downtown Huntington business community, helping coordinate community events and assisting with the beginnings of the downtown Christmas parade.
Joyce’s faith was central to her life. She was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church and later became a charter member of New Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in many capacities, including deaconess and director of the church food pantry ministry. Her caring spirit and servant’s heart touched countless lives through her church and community service.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Mannon; daughter-in-law, Heidi Mannon of Laurelville, Ohio; sister, Patty Regina Cook Blankenship of California; brother, Daniel Emerson Cook of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Erin Buckner (Stephen Suter), Kasey Jones, Charles Robbins, and Hannah Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel (Riley) and Avery Peyton Buckner.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice, as well as the many family members and friends who lovingly helped care for Joyce during her illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at New Baptist Church, Huntington, with Pastor Trent Eastman officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time-of-service Monday.
