1943 - 2026

Dorothy Mae (Gibson) Smith, age 82, of Milton, WV, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 5, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Pauline Gibson. Dorothy dedicated her entire life to walking in faith, reflecting the grace, mercy and unconditional love of Christ in everything she did. A devoted and active member of Antioch Baptist Church in Ona, WV for over 45 years, Dorothy taught Sunday School for 28 years, sang in the church choir and was a soloist. She was a true prayer warrior starting every morning with her bible and lifting loved ones in prayer. Dorothy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Kermit Smith, on October 8, 1965. Together, they built a beautiful life anchored in scripture, raising two boys. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she has heard the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant”. She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 61 years, Kermit Smith, her sons, Timothy (Kimberly) Smith and Aaron (Jennifer) Smith, both of Milton, West Virginia, her three beloved grandchildren, Lakeyn (Jason) Baldwin, Hayley Kirby, Christian (Rebekah) Smith; her four beloved great-grandchildren, Bentley Baldwin, Jhett Kirby, Cooper Baldwin and Avery Smith; her sister, Delores Ross; her brothers Harold (Sandy) Gibson and David (Belinda) Gibson; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dottie Morrison. She was also survived by a very special and dear friend of many years, Yvonne Terry. Visitation-Monday, June 8, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at White Chapel Mausoleum, White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, WV. Funeral-Monday, June 8, 2026 at 2 p.m. at White Chapel Mausoleum, White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, WV, with Pastor Nathan Jude and Pastor Jacob Marshall. So sorry about your loss. I did not know she passed until Tuesday. I would have been to the graveside if I had known. Love and prayers

Yoko and I are sad to hear of Dorothy’s home going, and out prayers go out to the family. Yoko and I went to church with Dorothy and Kermit a long time ago, and we remember them as servants of the Lord.
