1965 - 2026

David Allen GillDavid Allen Gill, 61, of Salt Rock, WV, passed away July 11, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born February 11, 1965, in London, OH, son of the late Raymond “Bud” Gill and Olena “Josie” Butcher Gill. He is survived his wife, Reba Anderson Gill; two daughters, Paulina “Nikki” Harshbarger (Christian) of Culloden, and Olivia Gill of Salt Rock; one son, David Alexander “Alex” Gill of Salt Rock; one brother, Rodney Ray Gill of Salt Rock; and one granddaughter, Mia Grace. Salt Rock has truly lost a remarkable member of our community. No matter what role he was in, his focus was always the same-the kids. He wanted them to learn, have fun, and enjoy the game. Winning was never as important to him as seeing children smile and build confidence. David's kindness, encouragement, and dedication to the youth of our community left a lasting impact on so many families. Salt Rock will truly miss him, but the positive influence he had on generations of children will never be forgotten. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Robbie Holton. Burial will be in Gill Cemetery, Salt Rock. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

I just found out about the loss of David. My sincere condolences to his immediate and extended family. Although I haven't been in Salt Rock for several years, it has always been a close knit community and it is comforting to know that he was so inolved with the youth and program(s) for them. I remember David as a little brother always tagging along with us as we rode bikes, played baseball in the yard, and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows. We were also teammates on the Salt Rock Little League field in 1972. It seems so long ago in some ways but life is really short. David was a light in the community dimmed too soon.

Condolences during this difficult time. While distance has made keeping up tough, I'll always cherish the times I spent with him growing up.
