1930 - 2024
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Elizabeth Austin Caldwell (Peaches) crossed over into the arms of Jesus on August 8, 2024 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at age 94. She is now reunited with the love of her life Junior. Elizabeth, known as Peaches, was born in Quantico, Virginia on July 2, 1930. Her parents were Norman Austin and Elizabeth, Rogers Austin. She grew up in West Virginia, where she attended schools in South Charleston, West Virginia and graduated from South Charleston high school in 1948. Elizabeth met and fell in love with Junior Wallace Caldwell before graduating from high school and married three months later on September 17. She lived a wonderful life with Junior and was married for 60 years until his death. Together they had three children, Becky Anne, Marybeth, and Craig Lee. They raised their children in Milton, West Virginia. Elizabeth was a stay at home mother until age 38 and began her college career at Marshall University. She graduated with a bachelor of arts in 1972 and had earned most of the classes required for a masters degree. Peaches was an incredibly gifted and talented artist and loved music. She played guitar and keyboard along with her husband who played multiple instruments as well. She taught High School Art and English where she was beloved by hundreds of students. She received teacher of the year award for 1974 - 1975. A vivacious, positive, energetic woman who instilled joy in all she met. She had a can-do spirit that was infectious and achieved many accomplishments. Peaches learned to fly an airplane and received her solo certification at age 60 years old in 1990. She also tried parasailing at age 70 and wanted to parachute at age 80 but doctors advised against it. She was an active member at Surfside Christian Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she participated in many activities weekly, including teaching art at age 94. She was extremely gifted with crafts and passed her creativity to her children and grands. She was preceded in death by daughter Becky Anne Caldwell Black and two of her children Brandon & Tara Black. She is survived by her daughter Marybeth Kyle and son Craig Caldwell and spouse Debbie, and her beloved Bear; brother, Calvin Lloyd Austin and spouse, Carolyn; grandchildren Missie Barnett, who was a like a daughter & her husband, Jon Barnett; Dink Black and spouse Christina; Chris and spouse Sarah; Summer and spouse Shashank; Maryann and spouse, Karlton; Kristine, & Caleb; great grandchildren: Jasmine, Paris, William, Arya, Corey, Cassie, Blakey, Hunter, Katie, Anna, Jordan, Josiah, Joel, Sara Ava, Lilee, Hayley, Bayden, Elina; great-great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Eva, Everleigh, Liam, Jax, Phoebe, Penelope; a special niece Teri Coffman, special friend Lisa Wiles; and her favorite bahama mama, Paula Pinder; and a very special thanks to Hospice nurse Jackie Reed. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Jason Salmons and Corey King. Entombment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

So sorry for your loss. I had Peaches as an art teacher my senior year of high school and really enjoyed her.
