Bernie Wayne Bias, 83, of Salt Rock, passed away at home November 18th, 2024. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday November 23rd at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor David Cardwell. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Born March 16th, 1941, a son of the late Bernie & Lovie Cook Bias. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Later in life, he retired from Inco Alloys of Huntington and Wal-Mart Tire & Lube. He was a member and officer of the Southern Ohio Poultry Association for more than 40 years. He was also a proud member of the Salt Rock community and was better known as the “Chicken Doctor,” or “Mayor of Frog Town.” Bernie was preceded in death by his siblings: Iris (Ted) Roe, William “Bill” (Leona) Bias, Floe (Tommy) Thompson, Douglas Bias, Stella Bias, and one great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Beckett. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Ann Adkins Bias; two daughters Angela Ann (Carey) Childers & Natasha Renee Bias of Salt Rock; two sons MSgt David Wayne (Sue) Bias of Stafford, VA & Rodney Allen (Kristina) Bias of Barboursville; seven grandchildren, Ashlee (Anthony), Bethany (Sean), Zachary (Brittney), Kaitlyn, Jacob, Rodney (Jaycie), and William (Nhi); and 11 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Bradley, Bellomy, Rowann, Ja’Vonte, Brieanna, Gabriel, Jaina, Chloe, Parker, and Audrey; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Mike & Sherry (Tommy) Adkins and many beloved nieces & nephews; dear friends Louie Daniels, Darrell Williams, Donny Gue, Emory Childers and Stacy Nida. The family would like to express appreciation for the love & care that he received from the caring staff at Lincoln Healthcare Center, the Woody Williams VAMC, SMMC, CHH, Encompass, CAMC, and Hospice of Huntington over this past year and to the staff of Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel.
