Ilder Jean Curry Smith, age 95, of Barboursville, went to meet her Savior on June 1, 2026, at Madison Park Healthcare. She was born March 8, 1931 in Hamlin, WV to the late Shelby Cecil and Mary Victoria Hager, who preceded her in death, as well as her father and mother-in-law, Homer and Lena Curry. She was married to Homer Wilson Curry, Jr. “Buck” who preceded her in death on June 23, 1988; and Samuel LeRoy Smith who preceded her in death on November 25, 2013. She was a member of Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Michael Huffman; son-in-law Raymond “Butch” Stewart; four brothers, Raymond, Johnny, Cornelious and Alvin; three sisters, Ruth Ashworth, Mary Bays and Peggy Miller. Survivors are two daughters, Patricia Curry Blake Stewart; Becky Curry Abbott; one son, John Mark Curry (Christy); and step-daughter, Diana Childers (Darrell). Grandchildren: Trevor Blake (Heather), Joseph Blake, William Huffman, Heather Bass (Philip), Susie Curry and Zoe Curry. Great-Grandchildren: Shelby Morrison (TJ), Caden Blake (Rachel), Wyatt Blake, Garrett Blake, Christopher Blake. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Rebekah Morrison and Trey Morrison. Step Grandchildren: Brandon Lykins (Shay), Jilly Kinniard (Joseph) and Lucy Lycans; Step Great-Grandchildren: Avaya Lycans, Graecyn Lycans, and Finley Kinniard. One sister, Christalee Persinger of Hurricane; two brothers, Calvin and Ronny Hager; one brother-in-law, Clifford Curry (Ruth Ann) and two sisters-in-law, Nellie Curry (Winford-deceased) and Shirley Curry (Davey-Deceased); and many nieces, nephews, plus a life-time of friends. Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Trevor Blake, Joseph Blake, Caden Blake, Wyatt Blake, Christoper Blake, and TJ Morrison. Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville with Pastor Gordon Rutherford officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
