Deloris Ann Perry, 80, of Milton, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Pleasant Valley Healthcare Center in Point Pleasant, WV following a short illness. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Pleasant Valley for their excellent care during her final weeks of life, especially to her own granddaughter Taylor.
Deloris was born on March 12, 1946, to Hershel and Thelma Wray Waugh in Ashton, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gearld; brothers, Howard, Mike, and Gary Waugh; sister, Phyllis Stewart; and son-in-law, Mark Wyant.
As a young lady, Deloris played softball and was a majorette in the band at Hannan High School. She fell in love at 16 years old; and so, on June 15, 1962, Deloris married Gearld Louis Perry. Gearld passed in 2018, just 12 days shy of 56 years of marriage. Deloris always said after his passing, “I don’t know about Gearld, but I’m still married!”
She was a homemaker, great housekeeper, and an excellent cook. If you left hungry from Deloris’s house, it was your own fault! She worked as a housekeeper for over 30 years, and her impact on those households was more than just cleanliness. Deloris became extended family to many, watching their children and offering help to their loved ones whenever it was needed. Her caring and trustworthy nature led to lifelong friendships that she deeply cherished.
As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Deloris was always supportive and present for everything, as long as her body allowed. Whether it was watching a ball game, gymnastics practice, a cheerleading competition, attending a horse show, or going to the Cabell County Fair for the 4-H/FFA projects, she was always there! Deloris (and Gearld) wanted to see their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren succeed in anything they did.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Shull (Chris) and Deborah Wyant; four precious granddaughters, Kolby Scarberry (Robert), Logan Conrad (Justin Adkins), Taylor Shinn (Brandin), and Lakyn Ashworth (Justin Casto); the light of her life - five great-grandchildren, Paisley Adkins, Braxtin Shinn, Berkley Shinn, Parker Adkins, and Perry Ashworth; two sisters, Sherry Hedrick (Harold) and Patricia Greene (Gary); sister-in-law who she called her sister too, Shirley Waugh; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, WV. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. by Pastors Mark Mayes and Don Reynolds. Burial will follow in the Wyant-Irwin Cemetery, Milton.
