
Nugent Penn Sharp, born on July 4th, 1937, in Cabell County, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2026, at the age of 89 at PruittHealth - Brevard. He was a cherished father, grandfather, and esteemed member of his community.
Nugent was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gerald Penn Sharp and Delores Jackson Sharp. He is survived by his children: Jenny Sharp Blair, Nugent Penn Sharp II, and Sally Jenkins Burleson and her husband David. He also leaves behind his adored grandson, Penn Stone Jenkins.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rutgers University, Nugent honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he embarked on a distinguished career as an engineer at Ingersoll Rand, where his dedication and expertise left an indelible mark until his retirement.
In retirement, Nugent devoted himself to his community, volunteering with his church and various local organizations. His generosity in sharing his knowledge and experience enriched the lives of those around him.
Nugent will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his unwavering commitment to family and community. He remained an active alumnus of Rutgers University throughout his life, maintaining strong ties with his alma mater.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Barboursville, West Virginia. Nugent will be laid to rest alongside his parents in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
