Linda Wellman Ross Bright, 86, of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born March 28, 1940 on Bowen Ridge, a daughter of the late Clyde and Daisy Perry Wellman. She attended Saunders and Bowen Ridge Elementary Schools, Barboursville Junior and Senior High School, and graduated from Vinson High School, Class of 1957. She was a proud Golden Horseshoe winner. She worked as a nurses’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital and worked as an aide at two nursing homes in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from the Nursing School of Wilmington, she worked as a registered nurse for twenty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Bright. She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Ross of Newark, Delaware; one sister, Doris Coates (Larry Ward) of Columbus, Ohio; one nephew, David Coates and a niece, Terri Coates of Columbus, Ohio; special cousins, Viola Perry Smith and Amy and Craig Fountaine (Alex, Greyson and Laken); dear neighbors and friends, Tiffany, Chris and Brody Adkins. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, August 9, 2026 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with Pastor Ray Vance officiating. Burial will be in Crook Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702.
