Angela “Angie” Gail Donahoe Meadows was determined to live her life in the service of others. She served as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife, nurse, minister, quilter, speaker, author, counselor, and was considered a friend of many. Angela was born in Huntington, West Virginia on August 8, 1961 to Nancy Stowasser and James Donahoe.
Angie is survived by her mother, her three sisters, Diana Taylor, Susan Chambers, and Sandra Donahoe; her four children, Dustin C. Napier-Meadows, Christopher “Chris” W. Meadows (Addison Meadows), Sarah J. Meadows, and Rebekah “Bex” A. Meadows; her three grandchildren, Micayla F. Burdette, Laliah M. Meadows, and Maverick W. Meadows, and soon another grandchild Kenadie Ann Meadows, and her great grandchild, Kaden Burdette. Angie was married to Dr. Perry Meadows for 36 years.
Angie received her RN license from St. Mary’s Hospital in 1985. She went on to complete her bachelor’s degree at Marshall University in 1988, followed by her master’s degree from Ohio State University in 1991. She left nursing to devote herself to family. She homeschooled her children successfully – all of whom attended college. She cared for a range of family pets including dogs, rabbits, horses, chickens, and parakeets. Angie enjoyed gardening and quilting. Her quilts were given to family and friends and one beautiful quilt raised $4,500 in an auction for a church mission group.
Angie was a caring and empathetic person. Her compassionate ministry led her to help recovering addicts redeem their lives. She would move recovering addicts into her apartment building and build a safe, supportive community for each to continue recovery. Angie became an ordained minister in 2022.
Angie was intelligent and full of wisdom of God. She became a self-taught Bible scholar by dedicating 1,000 hours a year to her studies. She wrote through tears of life struggles for 23 years before she put together her first book. The books present the topics from a Christian perspective with scripture references. Her first book A Thousand Tears: An Enabler’s Journey was published in 2018. She went on to write seven (7) “Rock of Recovery” books for moderators to use in Christian enabler/addiction recovery groups or for individual use. The series, including Rule and Reign your Internal World, can be adapted to help anyone develop emotional maturity skills. Angie also wrote four (4) enabler books and Discipleship studies, including Seven Pillars of Wisdom and Invisible War, and study guides on the books of Daniel, John and Romans.
Angie was full of energy and always doing good to glorify her father in heaven. Angie founded and developed the Podcast “Rock of Recovery with Angie G. Meadows” on Podbean and became an ordained minister in 2022. In a Podcast discussion of her cancer treatments, Angie told her listeners to “let no temporal circumstances steal your peace.”
Angie’s life message is no bowing to fear, not even the fear of death. But to live a life of faith and strengthening others one day at a time. Angie’s compassionate ministry as shown through her speaking and writing are a testimony of a life well-lived.
