Homer G. Day
Portsmouth-Homer G. Day, 89, of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at his residence. Homer was born December 2, 1926 in New Boston to the late Frank and Vera Fraley Day. Homer was retired as an Engineer & Brakeman from NS Railroad. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War; he was of the Christian faith and was a former member of Lakeside Community Church and attended Twin Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine Glenn Day, Feb. 9, 2005, whom he married June 26, 1950 in Portsmouth and three sisters. He is survived by two sons, Ronald & Linda Day and Philip & Susan Day; a daughter, Sally Day; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Rev. Don Noel officiating and interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 and one hour before the service on Thursday.
