Max Raymond Cheek
Colorado Springs, CO-Max Raymond Cheek, 99, passed away peacefully, Friday, February, 24, 2017 at the Healthcare Resort of Colorado Springs, CO. Max was born November 16, 1917 in Falcon, KY to the late Dean and Nellie Collins Cheek. Max graduated from Green High School in 1936; served in the Civilian Conservation Corps; he was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and the Air Force Reserves and was retired from Combs Aviation as a jet engine mechanic. He was of the Unity faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Cheek and Eugene Cheek; two sisters, Irene Reinhardt and Edith Joplin and a niece, Janice Ladd. He is survived by a brother, Paul Cheek of Virginia; four sisters, Dolores Clinebell, of IN, June Wooten of Portsmouth, OH, Joan Tallman and Beverly DeCamp both of Wheelersburg, OH and several nieces, nephews and friends. He will also be missed by his long-time friend and companion Lela Wallace and her children Ann (Don) Gaskill and Robert (Barbara) Wallace and their families.
Memorial services will be conducted at noon Friday, March 24, 2017 at Edgewood Abby Mausoleum at Memorial Burial Park with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating with interment to follow at Memorial Burial Park. Military honors will be conducted by James Irwin Post# 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post# 363. Those attending the services are ask to gather at the Mausoleum at 11:30 am on Friday. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, OH.
