Michael Lawson
Wheelersburg-Michael Lawson, 50, of Wheelersburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Southern Ohio Medical Center after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born December 30, 1966 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of James M. (Donna) Lawson of Wheelersburg and Wanda A. Lawson also of Wheelersburg with whom he made his home. Michael is survived by his beloved sister, Rachel, and her husband, Matt Dahm and their two sons who were the light of Michael’s world, Evan Matthew Dahm and Owen Douglas Dahm, all of Wheelersburg.
Michael was a member of Dogwood Chapel in Wheelersburg and loved to sing songs of praise! He was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Praise Team and also served on the church board for several terms. From II Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love and faith and self-control.” Michael loved the Lord and looked forward to this final step in his Journey, not with fear, but with great expectations!
He was retired from AT&T in Grayson, KY, he was a former substitute teacher and worked many years at Shop Kwik on Dogwood Ridge in Wheelersburg. Michael was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio University, Athens.
Also surviving are Michael’s grandfather, James D. Lawson of Wheelersburg. Michael’s longtime companion, Kelly Harris of Sciotoville and his aunts and uncles, Sue (Les) Hill, Judy (Greg) Chaffin, Joyce Reed, Barbara Havens, Rodney (Kelly) Lawson and Phillip Reed, many great-aunts and great-uncles including Anna Jane Justice of Lloyd, KY who he dearly loved to sing with as she played the piano. A host of cousins and their children and grandchildren.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilma M. Lawson (his beloved NanNan) Kenneth and Gladys Reed (his beloved Poppy and Granny) and his Uncle Kenneth Dale Reed, a precious 13 month old cousin Dallas McKenzie Willey and special great-aunt Fay Caseman.
Funeral services will be held at Dogwood Chapel, 1033 Charlevoix Ave. in Wheelersburg 11:00 am Friday, April 7, 2017 with Pastor Chad Burn officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg and one hour before the service on Friday at the church.
