Shirley Martin
Wheelersburg-Shirley Martin, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at home. She was born in Scioto County, Ohio to the late Lydia B. (Wiehle) and Albert Cunningham. Shirley was a retired house painter, one-half of the “Hurricane Sisters” and an active owner of a real estate rental business. She was featured in the Summer/Fall issue of the Portsmouth Metro Magazine. A lifelong lover of music, she enjoyed square dancing and ball room dancing, traveling and quilting.
Her survivors include her children, Anita Stewart, Melissa Martin and husband Chad Keener, Eric Martin and wife Tonda Stevens, Jennifer Cowling and husband David, Shannon Martin and wife Christie; grandchildren, Amber Taylor Harvey (David), Brian Stewart (Amber), Jenna Stewart (Jacob), Shannon Stewart (Jay), Billy Martin, Lauren Martin, and Robert Martin, Jarred Enyart, Aundrea Glenn (Gabe); great grandchildren, Killian, Adrian, Cole, Curt and Brayden; special friend, Bill Tackett and his family; her siblings, Jean Kelly, Dale Cunningham, Judy Hanes and Harold Cunningham, nieces and nephews and special cousins, Juyan, Jeanette, Bobby and Johnny. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Ramey, son-in-law Howard Stewart, Jr. and grandson, Christian Martin Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Portsmouth Public Library in Shirley’s name.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, May 8, 2017 at Wheelersburg United Methodist Church in Wheelersburg, Ohio, with Pastor Evan Fisher officiating and interment to follow in Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, OH from 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday, May 5, 2017 and one hour before the service on Monday.
