Paul Hammond
Wheelersburg-Paul Hammond, 86, of Wheelersburg, went home to be with his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. He served for two years in the Army before going to work at the Atomic Plant in Piketon, as an operator. He left the A Plant and started Paul Hammond Homes and The Hammond Store. He built several homes in Scioto and Lawrence Counties, and he also sold building supplies and appliances through the store. He is of the Protestant faith. He was the son of Charles and Dora Pace Hammond who preceded him in death along with his sisters Jewell Opal Hammond and Mildred Riley.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Johnson Hammond, and they had three children, Reva (Danny) Suter, Connie (Jeff) Kirkendall and Keith (Kim) Hammond all of Wheelersburg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Bethany (Matt) Wilson, Matthew (Catherine) Kirkendall, Blake (Shauna) Kirkendall, Jacob Kirkendall, Kassie Hammond, Kristen Hammond, Katelyn Hammond and five great grandchildren, Regan, Colten, Madison, Carson Wilson and Nataleigh Kirkendall. He is also survived by sisters, Jaunita Toft and Jean Allen and brothers, Charles Hammond and Harold Hammond. He was a joy to be around and will be missed by many.
Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Moolchan Seenarine officiating with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. The family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2017 and one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
