Harold Leon Cartee

Franklin Furnace-Harold Leon Cartee, 86, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at his home. Harold was born January 11, 1932 in Portsmouth, OH to the late Forrest Wallace and Susie L. Dutiel Cartee. He retired from Ironton Mallable as a Foreman and A& M Refractories. Harold’s true love and passion was farming and his presence in the fields will forever be missed. Harold also cherished spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Ann Cartee in 1995; two brothers, Emil Cartee and Gary Cartee; three sisters, Faye Cartee, Lorrena Henry and Wilma Gifford. Harold is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Roof Cartee, whom he married January 13, 1951; three sisters, Hazel Blackburn, Phyllis Micucci and Mary Catherine Brannigan. He has three sons; Mike (Kathi) of Powellsville, Ralph (Pam) of Portsmouth and Stanley (Debbie) of Poplarville, Mississippi. There are eight grandchildren; Melissa Cartee of Columbus, Kalista Weeks (Matt) of Powellsville, Andrew (Stacie) Cartee of Powellsville, Rachelle (Jon) Vollmer of Vandalia, Shae Lynn Cartee of Columbus, Leighann (Kris) Rettich, Scott Picklesimer and Ryan Staten all of Michigan, June Ann Williamson of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Josh Cartee of Reno, Nevada. There are nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 7, 2018 Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg will Pastor Dan King officiating and Interment to follow in Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2018 and one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary contributions be made to SOMC Hospice. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
