Betty Louise Rase, 88 of Wheelersburg went to be with the Lord at her home on Saturday May 26th, surrounded by her family and special care giver and friend, Dianne Osborne. She was born January 18, 1930, in New Boston, Ohio, to the late Edward and Mella (Blanton) Dotson.
She married Chester Rase on July 2, 1960. She was a Christian and a member of Pine Creek Freewill Baptist Church and she attended Wheelersburg Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, “MawMaw,” great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was loving, kind, quick-witted, and always smiling! She loved and enjoyed her family and had many friends and touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mella Dotson, a step-father Ollie Stone, her brother, Robert Dotson, her husband, Chester Rase, and her son, Michael Waddell. She is survived by her sisters: Bernice Peirce, and Kay (Jim) Vogelsong, her daughters: Paula (Roy) Roach, Wilma (Dennis) DeCamp, and June (Rich) Book.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Carla (Chris) Fannin, Nancy (RJ) Clark, Tim (Brandi) Roach, Richard Henderson, Nathan and Natalie DeCamp, Jacob and Jordan Book and her great-grandchildren: Katie Fannin, Jared (Ali) Fannin, Rachel (Dale) Puckett, Mariah (Chad) Atkinson, Makaela and Micah Clark, Emily, Andrew, and Brycen Roach and great-great-grandchildren: Callie and Emma Atkinson. The family would also like to thank her special care giver of many years: Angie Hagerman.
Her funeral service will be held at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home on Thursday, May 31st at 2:00 p.m. with Roy and Tim Roach and Brad Brandt officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Betty Rase’s name to Pine Creek Freewill Baptist Church (183 Poplar Fork Rd. Franklin Furnace, OH 45629) or to SOMC Hospice.
