Joyce Elaine Maggard
Franklin Furnace-Joyce Elaine Maggard, 78, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at her home. Joyce was born May 25, 1940 in Wheelersburg, Ohio to the late Carl John and Freida Emma Knapp Gleim. Joyce attended Wheelersburg High School and retired from the Kroger Company. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jerome Maggard, August 20, 1994, whom she married June 16, 1957 in Powellsville, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heidi Taylor and four sisters, Catherine Staker, Martha Williams, Velma Gleim Toler and Juanita Braden. Joyce is survived by three sons, Gregory (Denise) Maggard, Ohio Furnace, Matthew (Kimberly) Maggard, Garrison, KY and Joshua Maggard, Franklin Furnace; four daughters, Rebeckah Maggard, Donita (Glenn) Eskridge, Vivian (Robert) Maggard Riffel and Alice Maggard, all of Franklin Furnace; a brother, Donald Gleim, Sr. of Franklin Furnace; ten grandchildren, five granddaughters, Jillian Barber, Shawnee Fritz, Maria Maggard, Katelyn Maggard, and Emma Maggard; five grandsons, Nicholas (Tomi) Eskridge, Jimmy Lee (Mary Beth)Fritz, Luke Eskridge, David Maggard, and Samuel Maggard and eleven great grandchildren, Mason and Hunter Barber, Ben Taylor, Natalee and Arleeann Eskridge, Junior, Maddie, Jarod, Judd, Mary Ann and Sophia Fritz.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, December 3, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church in Powellsville with Rev. Brent Cavendish officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg 5:00-9:00 pm Sunday, December 2, 2018 and one hour before the service at the church.
