Fred Rader Salyers
WHEELERSBURG-Fred Rader Salyers, 90, of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at SOMC in Portsmouth. Fred was born September 14, 1930 in Wise County, VA to the late Charles Salyers and Mattie Larkey Salyers. Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was very proud of his military service to his country. The only thing he was prouder of then his military service was his family. He also loved gardening and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Fred was employed as a District Sales Manager for Flowers Baking Company. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bernice (Toler) Salyers, June 6, 2010 whom he married January 17, 1952 in Logan, WV. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Walmer, James, Donald, Charles, Carl and Harold and three sisters, Virginia Bledsoe, Nadine Robinette and Mary Ann Olinger. Fred is survived by four sons, Larry (Leah) Salyers, Gary (Debbie) Salyers, Randy (Kathy) Salyers and Steve (Bonnie) Salyers; a daughter, Debbie (Robert) Gambill; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Fred will be 4:30 pm Friday, July 2, 2021 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor John Gowdy officiating. Military graveside honors will follow at Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, from 2:30 pm until the 4:30 pm service hour.
