1968 - 2025

Jefferson William DavisWith heavy hearts we share the news of Jefferson William Davis, 56, who passed away at home on March 26, 2025. He was born in Portsmouth on August 31, 1968, was a long time resident of Portsmouth, a 1986 graduate of Clay High School, and was the son of the late William and Lucy Davis.

He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer Third Class/OS3 and served during Desert Storm. After his service, he came home and worked for McGinnis, Inc. for 30 years as a harbor manager, then began his own business, Davis Marine, as a marine vessel auditor and subcontractor for Rushing Marine.

Jeff enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lifetime fishing, hunting, motorcycling, and had a passion for collecting firearms. He loved his country and was a great American patriot. Jeff was devoted to his family and he was an unwavering best friend to us all. He was a solid man of his word, and someone that you could always count on. Therefore, the absence of Jeff has left a hole in our hearts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Christy Lynn Davis and his brother Bryan (Lorinda) Davis of Portsmouth.

He humbly raised two of the best daughters a man could have, Hope (Evan) Kennedy of Wheelersburg, and Alexandria Davis of Lucasville. He was afforded the honor of being the proud Papaw of 5 special grandchildren, Emma Kennedy, Kinley Whisman, Owen Kennedy, Raelynn Whisman and Liam Kennedy; two nephews, Blake and Colten and two wonderful nieces and their families.

Services for Jeff will be Tuesday April 1, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Harrison-Pyles Funeral in Wheelersburg with Bryan Davis officiating. Interment will be in KY Veterans Cemetery NE at 2:00 pm. Military graveside honors for Jeff will be by American Legion, James Dickey Post #23. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.

Jeff was the best neighbor you could have. He was always willing to help, even mowing the grass of neighbors who weren't able to take care of their lawn and Jeff took over that job for them. He will sure be missed. Jim and I have a heavy heart knowing he left this world far to soon. He will be greatly missed by neighbors, Christy, children, and grandchildren and friends. Rest in Peace Jeff, we loved you.
