Janet Phillips, 87, of Portsmouth, OH, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025, at Hillview Retirement Center. She was born April 24, 1938, in Portsmouth, OH to the late Raymond and Mary (McDaniel) Phillips.
Janet was a 1956 graduate of East High School and went on to receive an RN bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. She was a self-employed nurse anesthetist and worked for SOMC in Portsmouth and was a member of the Mercy Hospital Retirement Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Wanda Roberts and Betty Schwamburger.
Those left to celebrate her life are three nephews: John (Becky) Schwamburger, Dave (Connie) Schwamburger, Jim (Dana) Schwamburger and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be 12:30pm, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. There will be a gathering at the funeral home at 11:30am prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to SOMC Hospice Care Center, 2201 25th Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
