
Stanley H. Ferguson, Sr., 90, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, went to his Heavenly home where he was
reunited with the love of his life, Margie Ferguson, on April 8, 2026. Stanley was born on
September 11, 1935, at Missouri Branch, West Virginia, to parents Roy G. and RosaLee (Hager)
Ferguson.
The family relocated to Logan County, West Virginia, where Stanley graduated from Logan High
School in 1953. He then served in the United States Air Force stateside during the Korean War
from 1953 to 1958. After his discharge from the USAF Stanley attended West Virginia
Technical College and began his career in finance and insurance. He worked at Time Finance
in Logan, WV, for several years and then became employed as an insurance agent with
Nationwide Insurance Company, working as both agent and district manager for over 35 years.
He had a deep love of knowledge, earning the CLU designation in insurance, leading Bible
studies and teaching Sunday School, “tinkering” with electronics, and reading. Stanley was
proud to be a 32nd degree Mason, having been a member of Aracoma No. 99 Masonic Lodge
in Logan, WV, and then Western Sun Masonic Lodge No. 91 in Wheelersburg, OH where he
worked his way up to Master of the lodge where he served twice.
Stanley had a deep faith in God and used his beautiful tenor voice to sing for his Lord. Early in
his life he was a member of The Watchmen, a gospel quartet, who traveled throughout West
Virginia performing at old time “singing conventions.” He was said to have “one of the finest
tenor voices in southern gospel music.” He was a member of Pecks Mill United Methodist
church for many years, and Wheelersburg Methodist Church for over 50 years, where he used
his voice in the choir and in many solos, including “O, Holy Night” every Christmas Eve.
Stanley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margie, his parents, sister-in-law Bethel
Ferguson, and one great-granddaughter, Abigail. He is survived by one brother, Larry Ferguson
of Palm Coast, FL, one son, Stan Ferguson, Jr. of Columbus, OH, daughters Karen (Rick)
England of Cincinnati, OH, and Stacey Ferguson of Wheelersburg, OH, one grandson, Stephen
England of Cincinnati, OH, and one granddaughter, Jill (Jordan) Bivins of Westfield, North
Carolina. He is also survived by a great granddaughter, Jessica Rose, two great grandsons,
Colin and Owen, four nieces and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on April 15, 2026, at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, Wheelersburg, OH,
from 4:00 to 6:00 pm; Masonic rites will be held at 6:00 pm; funeral will immediately follow. Military Rites will be provided by James Dickey Post 23 after the Masonic Service.
Graveside services will be held at Highland Memory Gardens on April 16, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
