1936 - 2006
John A. Lawrence 69 of Lesage, WV husband of Walterene Lawrence, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 30, at St. Mary’s Medical center. He was employed by the Wayne County Assessor’s office and was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church, Huntington. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Gussie Mae Lawrence, daughter Kimberly Dawn Lawrence and a special uncle and aunt Johnny and Fannie Cloessner. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife of 48 years Walterene, son, Gregory (Regina) Lawrence of California, two daughters, Stephanie (Lucky) Westfall of California and Mae’Marie (Gary) Gilbert of Huntington, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a very special cousin who was like a sister Jean Gillespie. Memorial services will be 11:00am Thursday, June 2, at First Baptist Church 801 Sixth Avenue, Huntington with the Reverend Paul F. Willis, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
