1927 - 2006
On November 22, 1929 in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the news rang out that Mary M. Truss was the second daughter born to the late Joe and Eva Johnson Truss. At a very early age Mary moved with her family to Pell City, Alabama. It was in Alabama that she received her early education and religious training. At the age of seventeen Mary’s family took up roots and moved to Huntington, West Virginia. Following the move to Huntington Mary enrolled in Douglass High School from which she graduated. Shortly after moving to Huntington Mary became a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until the time of her death. She attended Sunday school and was a former member of the Rose of Sharon Missionary Circle, the L.R. Walker School of Religion and the Nurses Unit. In addition to her work in the church she was a former member of Golden Star Temple #534 and the Fez Club of the Improved, Benevolent, Protective order of the Elks of the world, and former director of the Nurses Unit of the Davis Singers. Throughout her many years of residing in Huntington she worked for numerous families in the city. She was married to the late Thomas A. “June” Trotter, Jr. On September 22, 2006 news rang out once again with the name of Mary Truss Trotter this time to announce that at 8:32 am in room 5131 of St. Mary’s Hospital that she had been called from labor to reward to join he parents Joe and Eva Truss, brother Floyd Truss and her husband Thomas Trotter, Jr. who had preceded her in death. She leaves to continue her legacy of love; a loving and devoted sister Margaret Lewis of Huntington, West Virginia. Nephews Ronald Truss of Birmingham, Alabama and Jimmy Lewis, of Huntington, West Virginia. Niece Mitzi Jo Foster of Huntington, West Virginia. Step children; Diane Berry, Sylvia Thornhill, Sharon Trotter, Toney Trotter, Barry Trotter, Todd Trotter, Kim Trotter and Kirk Trotter. God Daughter Brenda Crawford, God Son Alex Smith and host of other relatives and friends.
