On August 17, 1934 in the county of Logan, State of West Virginia the chimes of time rang out the news that Louise Deering was the second child born to the Late James Arthur and Katherine Purden Deering.
Liz as she was loving known received her early education in the public schools of Logan County graduating from Arocoma High School. In the early 1950’s she relocated to Huntington, West Virginia and shortly after her arrival united with the Calvary Baptist Missionary Baptist Church.
She began her professional career in Huntington working as an elevator operator in the Professional Building and in June of 1969 she went to work for the City of Huntington where she remained a faithful and dedicated employee until her retirement on December 31, 2004 after thirty-four years of service. In the late 1980’s she became a member of the Young Chapel A.M.E. Church.
On Monday, October 2, 2006 from a room at the Huntington Hospice House the chimes of time rang out again announcing that Louise E. “Liz” Minor was called from labor to reward to join her parents Arthur and Katherine, her husband Maxwell Minor and son Bill Davis Cosby who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish memories: two daughters Sharon J. Palmer of Huntington, Ramona E. (Lee) Monroe of Laurel, Maryland; one son, Phillip Morris of Raleigh, North Carolina; a brother Alex Deering of Huntington, West Virginia; four grand children, Yalonda (Howard) Hendricks, Jason Moore, Kristy Moore and Joshua Morris. Twelve Great Grand Children including Jeremy R. Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
