I realize I am years late in reading this, but my memories of Mr. Spotts are old and sweet. Please know how much he was loved and remembered. My father, now also gone, knew him from nancy years at Marshall. I worked with him in the 70s at Twin Towers. He was a gentle, honest and fine man.

Hey, Tammy I just seen you at Sam's on Jonesboro Rd. shopping. Tammy, I am lost for words, but to see your father as one man building your family home. It gave me inspiration in my life to conquer anything I set forth to do. May God bless you and keep you. Annette Koren Mabry (Garrett)

To the Spotts family I just want you to know that I am praying with you at this time. To Michael you know we go way back (neighbors for years & hang out buddies) and if you need anything just let me know. I love you and all & the one memory that I have of your father at this time is he partied with me at my 50th birthday party. Be encouraged.

I worked and talked with John Spotts frequently when I was at Marshall University from 1987-2001. Even after his retirement he was a supporter of the University and its students. I will always remember his kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail. My thoughts and sympathies go out from my current home in Peoria, IL. John's live was well and richly lived. He will always be a part of Huntington.

Please accept our deepest sympathy. I sold John Maxwell House Coffe, Jell-o and other General Food items over the years while he was at Marshall. John was a wonderful person to deal with, always pleasant. Always had a smile for you. I lost my 94 year old mother in April and can appreciate what you are going through. Plase know that John was well thought of and liked by everyone who knew him. Once again, I'm sorry for your loss. Sincerely. George Hanna

Sunday October 15, 2006 at 10:26 PM

John has been a very special friend to Carol and me for over 30 years. We worked many long hours together at Marshall, and have remained close throughout the years since. When I was a young chef, John took me under his wing and unselfishly shared with me his vast knowledge of cooking and management skills, thus preparing me for a successful career. More importantly, though, he shared with me his joy for life, his huge heart, and his love of family and friends. John's laugh was a very potent tonic, and he helped me through some tough spots in life. John was very instrumental in getting Carol and me together. He knew that we would be a good match, and 20 plus years of happy marriage has proven him right. It is hard to accept that he won't be dropping in again for special visits, but I know that he would want this to be a remembrance of happy times, rather than a time of sadness. Rest in peace, dear friend!
