1927 - 2006

In a short time that seemed so long

Someone wrote a lovely song

Two wings that is all so true

On November 22nd Margaret’s wings had grew

She never told, no-one eve even knew,

Not one person, not even you

Her time had come, her work was done

2006 her new life begun

On January 23, 1927 in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the late Joe and Eva Johnson Truss had their first baby girl Margaret. At a very early age Margaret along with her family move to Pell City, Alabama, where she received her early education and religious training. At the age of nineteen Margaret and her family moved to Huntington, West Virginia, where she united with the Young Chapel A.M.E. Church and remained faithful until her death. She attended Sunday school and was a member of the usher board. In addition to her work in the church, she was employed by the Cabell County Public Library until her retirement and helped to organize the Ebony Bowling league were she was Secretary-Treasure from 1972-1990. While residing in Huntington she became the mother of three children, Ronald E. Truss of Birmingham, Alabama, Jimmy F. (Robin) Lewis and Mitzi J. Lewis both of Huntington, West Virginia. Nine grandchildren, Kennishewa Lewis of Huntington, West Virginia, Latrice Coleman of Birmingham, Alabama, Dwain Foster and Eva Foster of Huntington, West Virginia, Franklin King, Jr. of Paris, Texas, Stephanie Washington of Huntington, West Virginia, Janell Houston and Michael Blair of Birmingham, Alabama, Gregory Foster, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio. Nine great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. On November 22, 2006 she departed this life peacefully from her home to join her parents Joe and Eva, her husband Richard Lewis, a brother Floyd Truss and a special friend “Buzzy” Ligins who preceded her in death. The celbration of her life will be 11:00AM Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Young Chapel A.M.E. Church with Pastor Angela Walker, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10:00AM until the time of the service at the church.
