Ruth Peterson Neal 91, of Zavalla, Texas died at the Trinity Shores Assisted Living in Port Lavaca, Texas on Sunday August 12, 2012. A native of Bexar County and a former long-time resident of Angelina County she worked as a bookkeeper for most of her working years, and was a Sunday school teacher at the Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Monday, August 13, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pleasanton, Texas with interment at the Heickman Cemetery in Somerset, Texas. Memorial Services will be held Thursday August 23, 2012 at Trinity Shores in Port Lavaca, TX at 9:00 A.M. She was preceded in death by her parents Volney Peterson and Nina Emerson Peterson, an infant brother Tommy Peterson, sister Stella Baker, great granddaughter Abby Welty, great great granddaughter Brianna Harmon and her loving husband Alfred Neal, who died in 1993. Survivors include a son David Neal of Schroeder, Texas daughters Ruth Elaine Griffin of Victoria, Texas and Nina Lee Harmon-Sutton of Bremerton, Washington, a brother George Peterson of San Antonio, Texas, a sister Nellie Montieth of San Antonio, Texas, as well as 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and 1 nephew.
