1932 - 2012

Roger KlinoffRoger Klinoff 80 of Jasper, TX. died at his home on Wednesday November 14, 2012 after courageously battling Leukemia. He never lost hope, he kept himself and his family in good spirits. He loved his family very much. He was ready to go on and be with the Lord. Memorial services will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday November 17, 2012. Roger was born January 16, 1932 at St. Frances Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa to parents John and Agnes Klinoff. He grew up in Waterloo and served his country as a member of the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Cpl. after his tour of duty, he attended Iowa State College in Aims, Iowa. He met his future wife during the first year of college and they were married on August 8, 1956 during his second year of college after graduating with a degree in Forestry he was employed in Tomahawk, WI. for Owens-Illinois this career spanned 41 years and involved a transfer to Orange, TX. and then to Jasper, TX. where he retired as Operations Manager in 1972, after retirement he worked for Louisiana Pacific and then later for the Jasper County Appraisal District until retiring in 2004. Roger loved fishing, (this was his second wife), camping, hunting and photography. He would rather be outside than inside any day. He was generous in helping others and giving them advice. His children remember going to Indian Island to camp often in Tomahawk, WI. and trips to the Owens Illinois Lodge to hunt frequently. We his children, appreciate the time we had been given with our dad, and are thankful for such a wonderful and loving father who cared and nurtured us. Survivors include his loving wife of over 56 years Jeanette Klinoff of Jasper, TX. daughters Carol Klinoff Hardcastle of Jasper, TX., Pauline and husband James "Jim" Broom of Jasper, TX., Vicki and husband Gary Thacker of the Trout Creek Community, and Karla Klinoff of Jasper, TX. son Ricky and wife Bridgette Klinoff of Jasper, TX. sister Marilynn Salyer of Cedar Falls, Iowa as well as eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Roger was one of my favorite uncles. I fondly remember spending time with him when I was young. I am so glad that I had the chance to visit with him and his family recently. We even got the chance to spend the day fishing together. I am very sorry for his passing. He will truly be missed by all the Klinoffs.
