Robert E. Blanton
FRANKLIN FURNACE-Robert E. Blanton, 76, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 11, 2023. Bob was a graduate of Green High School, Class of 1965, and a U. S. Air Force Vietnam Era Veteran, he retired as Superintendent of the Scioto County Wastewater Treatment Plant in Wheelersburg, Ohio and he was a member of Sandhill Christian Baptist Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Nufer Blanton, whom he married on September 21, 1968. He is also survived by three sons, John Blanton (Lori), Kenny Blanton (Staci) and Bobby Dale Blanton; one daughter, Denise Harkless (Jim); one brother, Gordon Blanton (Sandy); one sister, Portia Blevins (Ronnie, who was Bob’s best friend); seven grandchildren, Rashelle Howard (James), Kari Blanton, Steven Blanton, Alec Smith, Bryson Smith, Madi Hossfeld (Devin) and Morgan Blanton and five great grandchildren, Declan Howard, Ronan Howard, Jessah Blanton, Denver Blanton and Liam Cole. Bob was preceded in death by his father, John Blanton and his mother, Maudie Ison Blanton; two brothers, James Blanton and Tommy Blanton and two sisters, Mabel Wireman and Sue Carol Beekman.
Services for Bob will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Sandhill Christian Baptist Church with Pastors Jared Timberlake and John Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, March 14, 2023 and one hour before the 11:00 am service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow in Junior Furnace Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites. The family would like to extend special thanks to SOMC Hospice for their care of Bob.
