Richard Wayne Moore
WHEELERSBURG-Richard Wayne Moore was born on March 2, 1963 to Jesse and Mary Moore in Portsmouth, Ohio. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 19, 2023.
Richard grew up in Wheelersburg, OH and graduated from South Webster High School in 1981. He left home shortly after to serve in the Army for three years.
When he returned home from the Army, he started dating the love of his life, Pamela Wright. Richard and Pam were married on May 4, 1985 and moved to Savannah, GA to start their life together. In 1991, they had their first son Adam. Nick was born in 1993 and Cody was born in 2000.
One of Richard’s greatest qualities was sharing his love for hunting, fishing and the outdoors with his boys. He was a fun; hardworking family man and they learned a lot from their dad. Richard also cherished spending time with his granddaughters as their Pawpaw. On the weekends, you would find Richard fishing in his boat, pulling the kids around on a tube or napping in his recliner.
Richard is survived by his wife, Pamela; three sons, Adam (Brittany) Moore of Visalia, CA, Nicholas (Jennifer) Moore of Athens, TN, and Cody Moore of LaFayette, GA; grandchildren Savannah, Lillian, and Oakleigh; siblings Jim, Bob, Tom and Don. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Mary and siblings Bill, Janet, Thelma and Toby.
Services for Richard will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Jeremy Moore officiating. Richard will be laid to rest in Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00-9:00 pm Wednesday and one hour before the service on Thursday.
