Bruce Irving Bowen
PORTSMOUTH-Bruce Irving Bowen, 75, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Bruce was born March 1, 1948 in Portsmouth to the late Clarence Bowen and Mary York Bowen. Bruce was a retired U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters: Ruth Ann Lewis, Jane Pettigrew, Phyllis Traub, Sharon Moore, Diana Archangeli, Alan, Tom, and Tim. Bruce is survived by his wife, Cindy Sanford Bowen, whom he married September 26, 2007 in Pigeon Forge, TN; a son, Jason (Dena) Bowen; a daughter, Debra Hamilton; two stepdaughters, Stephanie (Chris) Clevenger and Shannon (Steve) Moatz; five brothers, John, Rusty, Mike, Pete and Chuck; three sisters, Melanie Parlin, Leah Miller and Julie Spradlin; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside services for Bruce will be 11:00 am, Friday, October 6, 2023 at St. John Cemetery in Powellsville, with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by James Dickey Post #23 American Legion. The family has entrusted Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with the arrangements.
