Ronald Lloyd BlevinsRonald Lloyd “Weasel” Blevins

FRANKLIN FURNACE-Ronald Lloyd “Weasel” Blevins, 78, of Franklin Furnace, met his glorious Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, at 12:03 PM on October 20th, 2023, at SOMC Hospice, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Ronnie was born December 22nd, 1944 at his homeplace on Franklin Hollow Road to the late Bert Blevins Sr. and Essie Mae Crum Blevins. He was the youngest of 12 siblings who all called him “the baby”.

Besides his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by four brothers, Shirley Herron, Bert Blevins Jr., Forest Blevins and Doug Blevins. Four sisters, Geneva Kibby, Gertrude Reid, Cora Strickland and Virginia Lavender. Five sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Herron, Ruth Blevins, Jane Blevins, Lois Blevins and Patsy Herron. Five brothers-in-law, Edward Lavender, Herman Strickland, Shorty Brown, Lonnie Reid and Bob Blanton, who was Ronnie’s best friend.

He is survived by his loving wife (His Jewel), Portia Blanton Blevins, whom he married May 31 ,1969. His two daughters, Rhonda (Roger) Collett and Stacey (Todd) Riffitt, both of Franklin Furnace. Three grandchildren, Hannah (Jared) Timberlake, Adam (Trinity) Riffitt and Holly Collett, all of Franklin Furnace, Ohio. Two great grandchildren, Josiah and Isaiah Timberlake. He had a special “extra” daughter, Renee Gleim, who meant so much to him and 4 special kids who felt just like grandchildren: Trevon Johnson and Ellie Ruby of Wheelersburg, Amber Gleim of Sciotoville and Lane (Maddison) Gleim of Wheelersburg. Sister, Dorothy (John) Williams of Dayton. Two brothers, Harold Herron of Batavia and Richard (Linda) Blevins of Lebanon, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews who he thought the world about.

Anyone who knew Ronnie loved him. He always had a grin on his face and was ready to make you laugh. If Ronnie was not sharing his love of God, you could find him trading cattle or rocking on his front porch. He pastored Sandhill Christian Baptist Church for 44 years until he retired in 2019 and was honored as Pastor Emeritus. He was the Green Township Clerk for 30 years, the treasurer of Green Local Schools for 25+ years and treasurer of Sciotoville Community Schools for 10 years – until he retired to spend his last years with his favorite people, his family.

Friends and family may call upon the family on Tuesday, October 24th from 4-8 PM, at Sandhill Christian Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 25th, at 11 AM, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service also at Sandhill Christian Baptist Church 188 Midway Avenue, Wheelersburg, Ohio, 45694.

The family would like to thank the staff of SOMC Hospice for all the love, support and care for Ronnie during his last moments. It is with great appreciation that they cared for our father, grandfather and pap. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.

I’m honored to have had such a great man to love a wonderful example of Christ. I remember the alter full no room of men cring out to the Lord. Today I practice this very example of the meeting at the alter. Cring out to the Lord. Thank you to him and his wife “What a day that will be”

Dearest Sweet Portia and family, Sending each of you "Our Deepest Sympathies" on the passing of Pastor Ronnie. He is sitting with Jesus, totally healed of Altzheimers and probably trying to make a deal with the Sheppards working in tbe fields wih cattle and sheep! This song came to mind, "This World Is Not My Home, I'm Just A Passing Through". Take comfort that even though he is gone in body, you have so many awesome memories to get you through your grief. Our Deepest Sympathies, Love and such Respect, Betty Lou Shaffer Petersen & Jim Suquamish, Wa. 98392
