Gregory Alan Warner

WHEELERSBURG-Gregory Alan Warner, 68, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, passed away on October 30, 2023 at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patty, and his two children, Nick and Brittany, both of Columbus. He was born on November 8, 1954 to the late Bill Warner and Betty Combs. Greg leaves behind his brothers Mike Warner, Rick Warner, Ron Warner, sisters Joyce Billups, Debbie Artrip, Judy Rase, and Jodi Raike, and brother in-laws Mike Riggs and Jeff Riggs, along with many nieces and nephews. Greg worked as a supervisor for Mullins Construction, and worked 18 years as the Safety and Service Director for Porter Township, retiring in 2020. After retirement, Greg was appointed to the Ohio Board of Building Standards and enjoyed working with his son and his company, Energy Safety Response Group. His life was guided by his faith, family, and his community. Greg served for over 50 years on the Porter Township Volunteer Fire Department. He spent many years as Chief or as an officer, and was currently the Assistant Fire Chief. He coached many of his children’s sports’ teams over the years, and was a huge supporter of Wheelersburg athletics. A longtime member of St. Peter’s in Chains Catholic Church in Wheelersburg, Greg was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member in the Fourth Degree, Deputy Grand Knight, and past Grand Knight. Greg’s greatest joy in life was the time spent with his family, especially traveling and going to Ohio State football games. He loved golfing with his children, hunting, riding his bicycle, and tending to his garden.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Greg will be 11:00 am Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wheelersburg with Father Michael Fulton officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.

In remembrance of his life, the family asks that those who wish to express sympathy may make a charitable donation online in Greg's name to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network or the St Francis Catholic Outreach Center in Portsmouth.

I am so sorry for your loss. I live in Porter twp and met Greg several times over the years. Sometimes at the park he would be making sure the equipment was in good repair while I had my boys there playing. Sometimes he was out updating something for emergencies with the ambulances. He always had a kind word and took time to know the people of Porter twp and any of their concerns. I’m grateful to have had the chance to have met him a few times. My condolences to his family and friends.
