1930 - 2023
 Irma Lou Shy, 92, of Barboursville, passed away November 15, 2023. She was born December 30, 1930, in Cowen, WV, daughter of the late Teddy and Georgia Hoover Gross. She was a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh G. Shy Jr., siblings Otto Gross, Rev. Leonard Gross (Louise), Harold Gross (Joan), Howard Gross (“Boots”), Mary Dishman (Larry), great grandson Grayson Phillips, and special sister-in-law, Jean Gross. She is survived by her children Gordon Shy (Norma), René Lewis (Ron), Perry Shy (Ann); four grandchildren Andy Lewis (Victoria), Rachel Phillips (Noah), Robby Shy, and Ashley Shy; three great grandchildren Blake Phillips, Olive Lewis, and Ivy Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her caregivers Sherri Dennison and Christy Myers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Greg Markins. Burial will be private. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV, 25702. Ms. Irma was such a great friend to my mom, Peggy Hicks. She was so giving of her time & took Mom to many events & appts. Mom loved walking with her & Ms. Goad, & Ms Young back in the day through Guyan Estates in the good ole days. I will keep all of your family in my prayers for comfort & peace at this great loss. I am so thankful for her friendship with my mom.
