Chester  Mays Sr.Chester Mays Sr.,75, of Ona, WV, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was born June 17, 1947, a son of the late Raymond and Blenna Mollett Mays. Chester was also preceded in death by brother, Leonard Mays, one sister, Donna Mays, and his foster father and mother, Wendell and Glenna Cremeans. He was a school bus driver for Cabell County Board of Education, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a recipient of three bronze stars serving three terms in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the DAV in Florida, and a V.F.W. Gold Member. He was also a member of New Hope Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Cocoa, Fl. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Gail Mays of 55 years of Ona, WV; one daughter, Wendellenna (Larry Jr. Stephens) Mays of North Springs, WV; three sons, Chester Jr. (Amy) Mays of Titusville, FL; Daniel (Jennifer) Mays of Salt Rock, WV, and Thomas (Kim) Mays of Barboursville, WV; grandchildren, Jonathan Mays of Bethal Springs, TN, Leandra (Zachary) Jividen of Ona, WV, Jasper Gue of Salt Rock, WV, and Cameron (Emily) Gue of Barboursville, WV; great-grandchildren, Waylon Hagley and Amelia Jividen; and Sue (Jack) Jamison of Jackson, Mississippi, whom he considered as his sister. Chester’s nieces and nephews on both sides of the family held a special place in his heart. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Larry Stephens and Jack Jamison. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Funeral Home.
