David Lee MillerDavid Lee Miller, a resident of Barboursville, WV, passed away on Sunday morning, March 3, 2024, in Huntington, WV, after a long illness, in which his beloved wife Markie cared for him diligently, Markie and sister-in-law Anne Gay, tirelessly cared for him in the hospital and hospice. David was born September 25, 1944, in Lobata, WV, Mingo Co. He is the youngest child of the late Dorsey and Cleo Miller, also of Barboursville. He married his sweetheart Martha Jane Wright, also known as Markie, on March 21, 1964. David began his military service in 1963 in the Navy, on the USS Long Beach in Norfolk Virginia. He served two years in the Navy and two years in the Naval Reserve. David and Markie raised two boys, Eric and Perry, in Barboursville, while he worked 35 years at the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. In 1987, David also served in the Air National Guard for the 130th Air Lift Wing in Charleston, WV and served in the communications branch for 25 years. David retired from the Guard in 1999, and the Postal Service in 2002. He spent the rest of his life caring for his family, enjoying family gatherings, holidays and birthdays. David was an avid golfer and spent many years on the golf course with his golf buddies, also National Guard members, Ted Smith, Dave “Bos” Bosley, and the late Bob Reynolds, and his nephew Gary Childers and grandson Ryan Miller. David loved going to Canaan and vacationing at Myrtle Beach with his family. David is preceded in death by his parents Elbert Dorsey Miller and Cleo Marie Thompson Miller. David is survived by his siblings James Miller and Janice Childers; his son David Eric Miller and wife Marianne Miller; and son Perry Bryan Miller and wife Missy Miller. David’s grandchildren Ryan Miller and Kaylin Perry; Janie Miller and Carter Miller and his great-grandchildren Stryder Miller, Watson Miller and Fisher Cade. Other family David loved as his own, nephew Gary Childers and wife Kimberly Childers; Andrew and Hannah Childers; and Michael, Natalie and Aria Childers. Also, Mathew, Tina, Chris and Kirsten. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with military services following at 4 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

im so sorry to hear of David passing I'm sure he would agree so of the most fun and memorable times we had as a kid were were the summers we spent at grandpas in the summer RIP in peace dave
